IL BUCO Trent'Anni Book
IL BUCO Trent'Anni Book
A celebration in images and words from Il Buco founder, Donna Lennard. "It’s hard to fathom that thirty years have passed since il Buco opened on Bond Street in 1994. What began as a little antique store has grown into a beloved family of restaurants and shops, including il Buco Alimentari & Vineria, il Buco Vita, and locations in New York City, Amagansett, and a pop-up in Los Angeles. We’ve also expanded to Ibiza with Bottega il Buco, and most recently to East Hampton, where the il Buco Commissary is now baking bread, jarring products, and expanding our events business. This incredible journey is deeply intertwined with my own family’s story. I remember nineteen years ago when my son Joaquin was just born, and Ignacio Mattos joined us from Uruguay. As I navigated motherhood and the restaurant, the il Buco team became Joaquin’s extended family. Now, that once-toddler, now a 6’2” vocalist, has started college at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. As an empty nester, I’m enjoying more time at my newly renovated house in East Hampton. Through all these years, one thing has remained constant: the exceptional community of food and life lovers who have supported us. I am profoundly grateful to our “regulars,” dedicated staff, producers, artisans, friends, and family who have made this journey so rewarding. To celebrate this milestone, it felt right to dig into the archives, revisiting some of my favorite moments from our 2020 cookbook, il Buco, Stories & Recipes, and to continue sharing the spirit of il Buco. This anniversary addendum features a few new recipes from il Buco al Mare but is mostly a tribute to the faces and experiences that have defined these three decades. Grazie mille."
